Wrought Iron Dining Table
When we think of wrought iron, we usually picture stair railings or outdoor
patio furniture or maybe even a decorative wall feature. We rarely think of a
wrought iron dining table. However, this element is creeping into interior
design in a big way. You may find more and more of these tables in homes that
you visit in the near future.
I chose to adopt a wrought iron dining table for my home and I have good reason
for making this particular selection. The house is relatively small with an open
floor plan between the kitchen and the dining area. The wrought iron dining
table is perfect for this space because it pulls the entire open space together.
The formal dining set that I previously owned looked awkward in this open space.
The Tuscan kitchen that we worked so hard to design simply did not gel with the
formal furniture in the room. We considered a few options to address the problem
but we found that the wrought iron dining table was the perfect solution.
The other alternatives would require a lot of money. We considered separating
the open space making a distinct formal dining room separate from the Tuscan
kitchen. This was not the most cost effective approach and I did not want to
give up the large, open space in the home.
The other option was not even put on the list of possibilities. I would have to
give up the Tuscan design in the kitchen and adopt a more modern and more formal
look in this area. There was no way that I was about to do that. We decided that
the whole thing could be solved with a little shopping.
In no time at all we found a magnificent wrought iron dining table that looks as
if it were part of the kitchen’s initial design. This piece offers great
detailing and the furniture anchors that area of the room. I can still enjoy the
open floor plan while maintaining an old world décor as well.
The best thing about the wrought iron dining table is that it is the perfect
balance. The furnishing is quite formal and sturdy but it also serves as a very
casual piece as well. It can be dressed up for the holidays or dressed down for
casual get-togethers with friends and family.
With the emergence of Tuscan interior design and old world décor, there is
little wonder that the wrought iron dining table is finding a place in so many
homes.
